In 1854，cholera was prevalent in London.Snow found their common behavior pattern by studying the daily life of cholera victims and discovered the relationship between cholera and drinking unclean wjye.aier.At his appeal，the government shut down the dirty water in time and effectively stopped the epidemic of cholera.He also recommended several practical preventive measures，such as washing dirty clothes and quilts，washing hands and boiling water for drinking，with good results.
Although John Snow did not find the pathogen that caused cholera，he creatively used spatial statistics to find the source of infection and proved the value of this method.Today，mapping has become a basic research method in medical geography and epidemiology. "Snow's cholera map" has become a classic case.
