Far away across the sea lies a country called Holland．It is a very low country，close to the sea．We can see the sea walls （海提） everywhere．These keep the sea from pouring over the land．

Peter took the fruits，and went on his way．He soon reached his grandmother's house．It was almost dark．He left his basket，gave his grandmother a kiss，and went home．
He walked along the sea walls on the quiet evening．Suddenly，he heard a sound which made his heart beat quickly．If you or I had been walking there，we would not have worried about the sound of trickling（小股流淌） water．
But Peter knew the meaning of the sound．He knew that the sea was making its way through the sea walls．Peter wouldn't have enough time to ask people for help before the water poured over the land．
Quickly，he ran to the place where the water trickled．He pushed his hand into the hole．Then he called aloud for help．No answer came．Luckily，the water was no longer dripping （滴下）．
He kept calling．Still，nobody answered．He was too tired to say a word．He felt cold．But his little hand held back the sea all the time．
The next morning，people from the town saved him．Everyone called him "a little hero" because he had saved the whole town．
