As a traveller，businessman，and owner of the Linden Center Hotel，sixty-year-old American Brian Linden has lived in the village in South China's Yunnan province for nearly twenty years.He now thinks of himself as one of the"cool new Dali people".
    Brian was born in Chicago，the USA.He first visited China in 1984.He got a scholarship（獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金） from the Chinese government and came to study in Beijing.During his stay，he showed great interest in Chinese culture and would love to be its communicator（交流者）.
    After working and traveling in over a hundred countries，he gave up his job in the US，sold his house，moved to China with his wife and two sons in 2004.He wanted to find a place and create a new lifestyle.After a tour around China，Brian and his wife at last decided to live in Xizhou，a small town not far from Dali.
    "I'm a fan of China's traditional（傳統(tǒng)的） buildings.Xizhou is a beautiful town with hundreds of old buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties.Traditions here remain as alive as ever，and the local people treat me like family，"said Brian.
    It cost Brian all his money to turn a Bai style house into a hotel for foreign tourists.Of course，the Dali government helped him a lot.Now the house is famous as the Linden Center Hotel.It offers international education programmes to European and American schools.It also opens 50% of its space to the public.This gives a place for more people to communicate with the villagers.It offers free English classes to villagers once a week.
    When talking about his future（未來(lái)），Brian said that he plans to do more to share with the world the beauty of China."We want to turn Xizhou into a window for foreigners to learn about China.I hope that through my hard work，more and more people will fall in love with China."
