2941.畢竟,別忘了
發(fā)布:2024/11/24 5:30:2組卷:9引用:4難度:0.92942.—Do you mean Mary is away for something else?
—_________.I haven't seen her all the morning.( ?。?/h2>發(fā)布:2024/11/24 5:30:2組卷:36引用:3難度:0.82943.Snow leopards (豹) are so hard to photograph that scientists aren't even sure how many of these endangered animals still live in the wild.
The Snow Leopard Conservancy(SLC)set up 20 cameras in Russia in 2010 to learn more about the big cats. After a full six months, they had exactly zero picture! That's when the organization understood they needed help. And the only people who could help them in finding the leopards were the very people from whom they wanted to protect the animals-local hunters (獵人).
Hunting snow leopards is against the law in Russia, but in the terrible climate of Siberia, the few people living there had to turn to poaching (盜獵) to feed their families.
In 2013,Russian naturalist Sergei Spitsyn approached Mergen Markov,a local hunter, and told him his project.Markov agreed to set up the camera where he knew he would find leopards, and it worked.
Markov, once a poacher, works full time for the conservationists now and has 10 cameras monitoring leopards. "I visit each camera once a month.I have known this whole region since I was a child," he said proudly.
The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) began working with other local villagers in 2015.The village would be paid 40,000 rubles at the end of the year if the image of a snow leopard is caught.WWF also rents horses from the villagers so that they do not need to make money by poaching anymore. "Today there are far fewer leopard poachers but leopards still get caught in traps set for other animals,so I have to stay watchful," said Markov.
Changing guns for cameras has made a big difference in the lives of these former poachers, the village, and the Russian snow leopards. The number of snow leopards has been rising and their population is expected to recover to normal levels within 10 years.
(1)Why was no picture of snow leopards taken in six months?
A.SLC's 20 cameras failed to work properly.
B.The number of snow leopards in the wild was too small.
C.The local poachers destroyed these cameras on purpose.
D.The researchers knew little about the animal's living habits.
(2)What did Sergei Spitsyn persuade Markov to do?
A.Find the poachers.
B.Repair cameras in the forest.
C.Catch more leopards.
D.Work for SLC.
(3)Why did the WWF begin working with local villagers?
A.To get some pictures of snow leopards.
B.To help villagers make a living.
C.To prevent villagers from hunting animals.
D.To rent their horses at a low price.
(4)How can we describe the WWF's cooperation with the villagers?
A.Practice makes perfect.
B.Curiosity kills the cat.
C.Kill two birds with one stone.
D.Old habits die hard.發(fā)布:2024/11/24 5:0:2組卷:7引用:2難度:0.52944.

Dear students,
Student Council發(fā)布:2024/11/24 4:30:2組卷:20引用:8難度:0.52946.When Babbage was working at Cambridge,a new idea occurred to him.He wanted to construct a calculating machine to work out the solutions(解法)to maths problems not only with correctness but also with a speed beyond the power of any human mind. His machine could solve problems involving(涉及)long rows of figures in one continuous operation(運(yùn)算).
In 1822 Babbage exhibited his invention and won a prize from the government. After that,he immediately started to work on a larger machine designed to solve more difficult problems.Although he received some money left by his father, the money was not enough to support his design. He wrote to the government about his plan and was given £2500 to start with,a sum worth much more in those days than it is now.
Babbage continued his work in London for four years. Then his health broke down, and he had to take a long holiday abroad. When he returned to London in 1828,he was at the end of his resources. Many bills remained unpaid. His chief assistant and co-workers quarreled with him and left with many expensive tools. For one year no work was done.During this period,Babbage, whose mind was always active, suddenly thought of a completely new idea for the machine. He rushed to meet the government officials to explain his new idea. But this time, they were unwilling to help him.For eight years, they refused to say whether they wanted the machine or not,and their final answer was "No."
From 1828 to 1839,Babbage held the position of professor at Cambridge very successfully. But his greatest work was the unfinished calculating machine which stood covered in dust in his house. It was the beginning of the modern computer.
(1)The machine Babbage designed would solve difficult maths problems
A.in one operation with few mistakes
B.in more than one operation without any mistakes
C.in more than one operation with slight mistakes
D.in one operation without any mistakes
(2)Babbage failed to continue his research work in 1828 mainly because
A.he was in poor health
B.he almost ran out of money
C.his co-workers argued with him
D.he spent all his money on his bills
(3)Babbage explained his new idea to the government officials, expecting that
A.they would agree to his plan
B.they would pay for his new idea
C.they would support him with money
D.they would exhibit his new design
(4)From the passage,we can infer that
A.Babbage failed to be a famous scientist at Cambridge
B.Babbage always had new ideas but gave them up easily
C.Babbage always needed support from the government officials
D.Babbage was the first designer of the modern computer發(fā)布:2024/11/24 4:30:2組卷:549引用:3難度:0.62947.Tsinghua University, in 1911,is home to a great number of outstanding figures.( ?。?/h2>
