(1)
Wanting to be in on the fun when exciting things are happening is completely normal. But for some people,it can lead to an addiction to checking their phones to find out what other people are doing.Even while doing things that are fun or necessary, people can feel like there's something better going on elsewhere. This urge to connect can lead them to disconnect from the people they are actually with.(2)
Remember that what people choose to post on social media does not necessarily reflect their life overall.People tend to pick and choose the things they share,so we only ever know a small part of anyone else's life.
(3)
It might even be necessary to turn off your phone or log out of social media for a while.(4)
Finally, focus on the things in front of you.Enjoy them,do them well and let everything else go.(5)
Don't let the fear of missing out cause you to miss out on the good things you have in life.Relax, enjoy what you do and let other people enjoy their lives without envying them.
A.To some extent, people have always worried about missing out on things.
B.Without the social media you will get unconnected with the whole world.
C.It also prevents them from being satisfied with the good things in their lives.
D.When you fully engage with life, you'll worry less about what you're not doing.
E.Get rid of the constant reminders of everything that's happening in the world.
F.It's difficult to connect with the reasons why you choose not to participate.
G.It's also important to be humble and acknowledge your limitations.發(fā)布:2025/1/1 15:30:1組卷:10引用:2難度:0.5545.Lonely?You're hardly alone.Since COVID-19 struck, few teens have been able to spend as much time at school or with friends as they used to.But even before the COVID-19,loneliness was becoming a growing problem for teens. And the trend(趨勢(shì))appears throughout industrial nations across the world. That's the finding of a new study.
In America, the share of lonely teens jumped from 18 percent in 2012 to 37 percent in 2018.Overall,during those years, the share of girls reporting loneliness basically doubled in the countries studied. The increase in boys was somewhat smaller.
The new study connected rising loneliness to a greater use of smartphones and the Internet.Jean Twenge works at San Diego State University. He and his team found that since 2012,U.S.jye.ai have been spending less time together face-to-face.So this increase in loneliness started long before the COVID-19 made such meet-ups unsafe.
"Smartphones can help us connect with friends," says Twenge. "But they can also make us feel excluded(受排擠的)." Girls, especially, may feel this way.One reason may be that they post more photos than boys.Studies have shown that if those images don't get many "likes'',it can affect a teen's mental health. And then there's "phubbing"(低頭族).It's that moment in which a friend or a family member takes out a phone and plays with it,ignoring everybody else.
The new study mainly refers to a survey called the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA).Some one million teenage students from 37 countries took this survey in 2000,2003,2012,2015 and 2018.Its questions mostly dealt with education. But they also included six statements about loneliness, such as, "I feel awkward and out of place in my school." The good news:Even in 2018,most teens around the world still felt liked and included at school. But the fact that so many were reporting loneliness is a worrisome trend.

發(fā)布:2025/1/1 15:30:1組卷:0引用:3難度:0.8548.Today's students are surrounded by information. The ability to figure out exactly why authors write --- and not accept every opinion as fact --- is a key skill.(1)
Start with why. "Why did the author write this piece?" is the key question asked to identify author's purpose. To help students expand their understanding of "why," post various types of nonfiction (an advertisement, opinion article, news article, etc.) around your classroom and have students quickly identify a purpose for each.(2)
Talk about structure.Authors use different structures for different purposes. For example, one author may use time order to explain an event, while another author uses compare and contrast to put that event into context.
(3)
Connect it to students' own writing. It doesn't have to be said that writing and reading go hand in hand.(4)
Observe how purpose changes within a text.Author's purpose is often studied through the text as a whole, but authors have different reasons for writing within texts as well. (5)
A.Get to the heart.
B.Identify the topic.
C.The readers may get more advanced in their work with informational text.
D.For example,an author may include a funny anecdote (軼事) to draw the reader in.
E.In particular, they'll need to figure out author's purpose and draw their own conclusions.
F.Expand students' awareness of why people write by having them write for different purposes.
