621.What would you look like when you are 80 years old?It seems too far away to imagine, but an app named FaceApp tries to show you.
The app creates transformations of users' faces using various filters(濾鏡)and features. The FaceApp aging challenge went viral last month.Even many celebrities like Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber shared their wrinkly,grey-haired selfies on social media.
FaceApp helps us stop thinking of things that don't matter and focus on the present. "We view these images as inferred fiction, not realized and therefore unreal," US author Nicci Gerrard told The New York Times. "We think of our younger selves, because in one sense that's who we are.Our younger stories are all still part of us,while our older selves don't yet exist." However, not everyone can laugh at their older selves. For some, aging is terrifying and it's hard to accept what the future holds in terms of looks and feelings. As MetroUK noted, " FaceApp is making people into a painful crisis."
In addition,F(xiàn)aceApp is facing a number of accusations regarding user privacy. When a user makes changes to a photo,it needs to be uploaded to the servers in Russia, where the company is located, then AI filters your image and sends it back to you.By using the app,you grant FaceApp the license to use, reproduce, change, adapt, and publish your image,as stated in its service agreement.
Despite the concerns over privacy, however,F(xiàn)aceApp does light up the Internet. It gives us the chance to take a look at our futures and perhaps let us consider how to prepare for it.

New brain research, led by researchers at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, confirms the same choosing handwriting over using a keyboard results in better learning and memory.
"When you write your shopping list or lecture notes by hand, you simply remember the content better afterwards," said Audrey Van der Meer, author of the study.
The study was conducted using equipment to track and record brain wave activity. The participants included 12 young adults and 12 children. This is the first time that children have participated in such a study. Each subject was asked to write by hand and type on a keyboard while wearing a hood(風帽) with over 250 electrodes(電極).The sensors(傳感器)in the electrodes are very sensitive and pick up the electrical activity that takes place in the brain. Each examination took 45 minutes per person.
The results showed that the brain in both young adults and children is much more active when writing by hand than when typing on a keyboard.According to Van der Meer, plenty of senses are activated(激活)by pressing a pen on paper, seeing the letters written and hearing the sound made while writing. These sense experiences build contact between different parts of the brain, opening the brain up for learning.
Van der Meer believes that the outcomes stress the importance of children being challenged to draw and write at an early age, especially at school. "Learning to write by hand is a bit slower process, but it's important for children to go through the tiring phase of learning to write by hand",she said.
The hand movements used to form the shapes of letters are beneficial in several ways. "If you use a keyboard, you use the same movement for each letter.Writing by hand requires control of your fine motor(精細動作)skills and senses. It's important to put the brain in a learning state as often as possible," Van der Meer added. For example, you might use a keyboard to write an essay, but you should take notes by hand during a lecture.
(1)What's the main purpose of the text?
A.To encourage the use of handwriting.
B.To advise children to start to write early.
C.To report on new research on handwriting.
D.To explain how handwriting affects adults and children differently.
(2)What do we know about the study?
A.The study involved 45 participants altogether.
B.The participants were divided into two groups to conduct.
C.All the participants were gathered together for examinations.
D.The sensors in the electrodes were used to track brain wave activity.
(3)Why does the brain become more active when writing by hand than when typing on a keyboard according to Van der Meer?
A.More senses are made active when writing by hand.
B.Writing by hand is easier on the brain.
C.Noise made by typing doesn't distract the brain when writing by hand.
D.The brain is more used to the skills required to write by.
(4)How does Van der Meer think handwriting benefits people?
A.It allows children to become more patient.
B.It increases people's interest in learning.
C.It helps people develop fine motor skills.
D.It allows people to write better essays.發(fā)布:2025/1/1 15:0:2組卷:0引用:2難度:0.5624.We should not develop our economy at the e

In contrast, the study also found that when grandmothers viewed images of their adult child, they showed stronger activation in an area of the brain associated with cognitive(認知的)empathy. That indicates they may be trying to cognitively understand what their adultchild is thinking or feeling and why,but not as much from the emotional side.Compared with results from an earlier study by the Rilling lab of fathers viewing photos of their children, results showed that grandmothers activated more parts of the brain that involved emotional empathy and motivation.
"That suggests that grandmothers tend to feel what their grandchildren are feeling when they interact with them,"Rilling said."If their grandchild is smiling, they're feeling the child's joy.And if their grandchild is crying, they're feeling the child's pain and sorrow."In many societies, grandmothers are important caregivers, and their investment is often associated with improving their grandchildren's well-being.
It's part of the reason why the US celebrates Grandparents' Day each year on the first Sunday after Labor Day in September. The announcement was signed in 1978."Because grandparents are usually free to love, guide and befriend the young without having to take the daily responsibility for them, and reach out past pride and fear of failure and close the space between generations,"the announcement read.
