War started in our house in late July with a month to go before my first day of college. It was a battle of wills over what college I was to attend.Mom wanted me to attend a famous nursing school, and I wanted to go to a small writing college.Every night for two weeks,we argued, shouted, and gave(1)CC treatments until both sides went to bed with regrets.
It was mostly my fault.Since my junior year of high school,I had (2)AA at being a nurse.I took all the science courses and even worked as a volunteer in my town's local hospital. My goal was to help the sick and be a superwoman to the world.
Yet,as graduation and college neared,it all changed.Treating the sick was (3)DD ,but not what I was meant to do for the rest of my life.I could picture myself in hospitals, making rounds, and taking temperatures, but I couldn't picture myself happy. It wasn't the(4)DDI wanted.
Then,I realized I had been creating and writing stories for as long as I could (5)BB .I loved it,and writing was what I had been doing as a (6)AA .It was going to be my career. And it had to be.
On August 1st,Mom and I sat down at the dinner table and I told her that she had every right to choose where to spend her money, just like I had every right to decide where I wanted to go to school. If it was her choice not to (7)DDany of my college education, then I would take a year off to work and earn money so I could go to the college I wanted.
Standing by my decision to be a writer had (8)CC my firm belief to my mom. Finally,we were at (9)CC ,and she decided to support me,which meant the world to me.
Before that time,I had never stood up against my parents on any major decision.Choosing which college to attend (10)DDme to become a separate and complete adult.I am now finished with.jye.ai first semester as a Professional Writing major, and I cannot wait to see what comes next.

2.I remember my math teacher Mr.Young very well.He stood out because the kids made fun of him.He was missing one of his fingers, and always pointed at students with his middle finger.
I was not very good at English and math.No matter how hard I tried,I just could not figure out why I did not understand what all the other kids found so easy to learn.
One day,I was told that if I got one more E on my report card,I would be taken to the "big prison for kids".
I tried really hard for weeks.I just couldn't understand how to make different parts of members into whole things.
The day before report cards were to come out,I knew that Mr.Young would give me an E,just like he always did.
I went to Mr.Young and told him that the orphanage (孤兒院) was going to send me to the big prison if I got another E on my report card.He told me there was nothing he could do;it would be unfair to the other kids if he gave me a better grade than I had actually earned.
I smiled at him and said, "Mr.Young,do you know how the kids make fun of you because you're missing your finger?" He looked at me,moved his mouth to one side and said nothing.
"They shouldn't do that to you because you can't help not having a finger,Mr.Young.Just like I can't help not being able to learn numbers and stuff like that." I said.
The next day, when I got my report card,I tucked it into one of my books. While on the school bus,I opened it:Geography,B+;Mechanical Drawing,C-;English,D-;History,C-;Gym,B+;Art,C;Math,D-.
That math grade was the most favorite one I ever received.Because I knew that someone in the world finally understood what it was like for me to be missing a finger inside my head.
