The discovery was made by Professor Jean-Jacques Eigeldinger. He found this lost piano when he studied the information about French piano maker Camille Pleyel.
Before Frederic Chopin left England for Paris,he sold the piano to Lady Trotter for 80 pounds. Then Lady Trotter gave the piano to a relative. The piano later went to auction(拍賣(mài)).At auction,it was sold to a man,and Cobbe then bought it from him.Now the antique instruments Cobbe collected include those that were owned or played by famous composers, including Purcell,Bach,Mozart,Mahler and Chopin.
