The making of McDonald's Two brothers，Richard and Mac McDonald，started the McDonald's restaurant chajye.ai.In the 1940s they had one restaurant in California.It was quite successful，but there were problems.Staff often left to take better jobs.Customers wanted their food more quickly.Some people broke dishes，or took the knives，forks and spoons.In 1948，the brothers decided to try something new.
They decided to offer only hamburgers，fries and drinks.There were no knives，forks or spoons.Customers used paper plates，paper cups and napkins.The restaurant cost less to run and could serve more customers faster.
In 1954，a salesman named Ray Kroc offered to help.In 1955，Kroc opened the second McDonald's.Today there are more than 25，000 McDonald's restaurant in 118 countries around the world.
