19．This wasn't really a holiday，but I was traveling by plane to Greece on business.To be quicker，I decided to take a taxi to the Paddington train station first.Then take a train to the airport.The taxi arrived on time.I asked how long it would take to reach Paddington and he said，"In general，not long but there's a broken water pipe （管） at Great Portland Street and instead of 3 traffic lanes（行車(chē)道），there's only one."
It took me 40 minutes to get to Paddington，which was usually a 20-minute trip.When I went out of the taxi，I saw a sign that said "Heathrow"，I jumped on the train which was going to leave.'Doors closed，but my heart sank.It wasn't the Heathrow Express!I ran to the door and through the open window asked the inspectors（檢查員） on the platform（站臺(tái)） to let me out.He said he couldn't.I asked where the train was going and he said，"Slough."Just then a lovely lady told me I could get a taxi from Slough to Heathrow in 15 minutes.I might still make my flight.Then she asked if I had a ticket，and I said no，and she said I would probably get a fine （罰款） coming out of the platform.
As soon as the train got to Slough，I ran out with the kind lady.She told the platform inspectors that I had got on the wrong train.They believed me and let me out.Luckily，I didn't miss my flight.
