2.Dear Sunday Globe,
I am writing to tell you about your article Smartphones Make Life Easier in last Sunday's newspaper. You did an excellent job explaining the good points of smartphones, but you didn't talk about their bad points at all. So,I hope you'll let me give your readers some advice on smartphone etiquette (禮儀).
The first point I'd like to address is loudness. When you talk on your smartphone in public, please don't shout. In fact, the microphones in smartphones are very sensitive (靈敏的).So,you can be heard even if you speak quietly.
Another point is about personal space.I don't think it is polite to make calls in small spaces full of people. This makes others uncomfortable and forces them to listen to your personal business. What's worse,it stops many face-to-face conversations from ever beginning.
Lastly, doing two things at the same time is dangerous. For example, making calls while driving is a bad habit.Pay attention to the road!Similarly, when staying with your friends, turn off your smartphone and enjoy their company.
Yours truly,
Amber Jala

4."Broom(掃帚) challenge" has become a hot topic on the Internet recently. The challenge is to make a broom stand on its own without any support. Many people shared videos and photos of brooms standing.Even some famous stars, such as Canelo Alvarez,Jason Derulo,Tory Lanez and DJ Khaled, took part in the challenge.
People in the challenge said that according to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA) (美國國家航空航天局),the earth's rotation(旋轉(zhuǎn)) would be "in perfect balance" on February 10 and it would be possible for a broom to balance standing up.
In fact, brooms standing on a special day is just a hoax.We can't find anything from NASA to support the challenge. But as with many things on the Internet, people ran with it.But the truth is,you can make a broom stand up today and tomorrow and the day after tomorrow and the day after that.It has nothing to do with the earth's gravitational pull (引力) on a certain day.It also has nothing to do with the vernal equinox (春分) (another day of the year when this "magic" supposedly happens).
NASA astronaut Alvin Drew and scientist Sarah Noble replied to the challenge, saying that this is a basic physics problem and will work every day of the year, not just on February 10.Brooms can stand up on their own if balanced properly on the bristles (刷毛).
(1)What did people think made the broom stand at first?
A.A certain mysterious force in nature.
B.A challenge made by the NASA.
C.The weight of the broom.
D.The perfect balance made by the earth's rotation.

A.On any day.
B.On the vernal equinox.
C.On February 10.
D.On the day after tomorrow.

Unbelievably the Chicago race was not even baby June's first marathon-Miller ran the Wisconsin Marathon earlier this year, four months pregnant. She also ran another marathon when she was about four months pregnant with her son,Caleb.Although there was extra weight, the seasoned runner's time was just 3 hours off her personal best.
Miller began to feel pain near the end of the race, but she was not sure if it was labor (分娩),because she typically feels some pain when she runs while pregnant. After her race her husband drove her to Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield where she gave birth to the healthy baby weighing 7 pounds and 13 ounces (盎司).
Miller decided to run because she and her husband had already signed up for the race. The athletic mother said she experienced an enthusiastic welcome from crowds as she ran along. But the devoted runner, who had completed eight marathons, admitted(承認)that she did get a few strange looks along the course.
"I know what I can handle. This is something I've been doing for a long time,"the experienced marathon runner said.
June was born at 10:29 p.m.jye.ai Sunday night after seven hours' labor. "She's absolutely perfect," Miller said. "We are extremely happy, but very tired."
