       Thunderball Grotto
Located in the Exuma Island chain,it is a beautiful cave that is popular with snorkelers. Its claim to fame is that it was used as a location for filming several movies including two featuring James Bond.Snorkelers can access the cave during low tide and are able to swim with grouper, snapper, angelfish, lobsters and the occasional sea turtle.

  • 2.Imagine your mind as a library. As pleasant a room as a reader could wish. Now let me describe different sort of library:The bookcases have fallen, their glass fronts broken, and their contents messed across the floor. This one belongs to the disordered, anorexic(厭食)mind. At the age of 15,3 was the state of my mind. For 10 years,I suffered the mental and physical pain of anorexia.
A new year usually made me nervous:A time for resolutions. In January 2019,I was 24.Ten years after diagnosis,I was what doctors call a "functioning" anorexic.I would eat enough to get by,never with any flavor. That year,I made a different sort of January resolution:To read all novels Dickens by December.Something changed,I began to be curious about food, wanting to share it,taste it.His scenes, his meals made me hungry. It also turned me into a walker.I wanted to see London as he had seen it:At night,on foot.
Siegfried Sassoon also rescued me.The poet recalls cold mornings before a hunt:"We got up at four o'clock, and fed ourselves with boiled eggs. " Stopping in a bush,he has sandwiches, and on the way home he keeps himself warm with thoughts of poached eggs on toast,tea...All those eggs! All that bread!Hot chocolate! (I hadn't had a cup of hot chocolate in a decade.) With Sassoon as guide,I learnt,at the age of 25,to boil an egg.
Most helpful to my recovery were the.jye.ai of the wizard Merlyn in T.H.White's The Once and future King. "The best thing for being sad," he tells the boy who will become King Arthur, "is to learn something. That is the only thing that never fails... " Too many self-help guides say:Get fit, lose weight, eat right, make friends, find a hobby...Better that they should say:Learn something, read something, see something new.Feed your mind.Trigger your appetite for new books, and the other appetites-for food, for friends, for life-will follow.

B.An anorexic mind is to people what a disordered library is to readers.
C.A disordered library can result in physical and mental pain to people.

    B.By reading various books.
    C.By pretending to eat something.

(3)How does the author describe the process of his recovering from anorexia?

    A.By listing examples.
    B.By analyzing causes.

    A.Appetite comes with eating.
B.Eat to live but do not live to eat.

  • 3.The percentage of Hispanic(拉美裔的)students who graduate from college in six years or less continues to follow that of white students, according to a new study of graduation figures at more than 600 colleges.
In the study sponsored by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the American Enterprise Institute examined graduation rates for students who entered college in 1999,2000 and 2001,and found that 51 percent of those identified as Hispanic earned bachelor's degrees in six years or less, compared with 59 percent of white students. In some ways, the rates echoed the conclusion that Hispanic students trailed their white peers no matter how selective the colleges' admissions processes, which was made seven years ago by the Pew Hispanic Center.Accordingly, university administrators sometimes described white students as "better prepared academically and financially for college".
The researchers of the study delivered one statement to the US federal government, which responded,"We are to recover our position as the nation with the highest concentration of adults with post-secondary degrees in the world."
"Given the changing demographics(人口統(tǒng)計數(shù)據(jù))of the United States," the researchers write,"this target cannot be achieved without increasing the rate at which Hispanic students obtain a college degree."
The study recommended that colleges adopt an "institution-wide commitment to insuring that all their students graduate",and that the government tie aid to colleges which serve their students well, but not simply enroll many students.

(1)What conclusion can be drawn from the study?

A.Hispanic students who receive college education are less.
B.Few Hispanic students could spend six years or less in colleges.
C.Hispanic students have a lower graduation rate than white pees.
D.The chance for Hispanic students to go to selective schools is slim.
(2)What does this underlined word "trailed" in Paragraph 2 mean?

    A.Went beyond.
    B.Amounted to.
    C.Pulled down.
    D.Fell behind.
(3)Which one may be the barrier to the goal of US federal government?

A.No financial supports to the Hispanic student.
B.Hispanic students' failure to obtain a bachelor's degree.
C.Hispanic students' difficulty in fitting in with the society.
D.The selectiveness of the colleges towards Hispanic students.
(4)What does the study suggest the government do?

A.Require colleges to ensure their graduate rates.
B.Give aid to schools with more enrolled students.
C.Help Hispanic students with financial problems.
D.Support colleges with good service for their students.

  • 9.閱讀下面材料,根據(jù)其內(nèi)容和所給段落開頭語續(xù)寫兩段,使之構(gòu)成一篇完整的短文。
On a sunny Saturday in June,Alyson,3,squealed(尖叫)with laughter as she and her mother,Marlen, played hide-and-seek in the front yard of their home. With Marlen close behind, tiny Alyson flashed into the backyard of an elderly neighbor.About halfway across the yard,Alyson suddenly disappeared, seemingly swallowed whole by a barely visible opening in the ground.Marlen screamed.
The neighbor's caretaker,Luz,26,was preparing dinner in the neighbor's kitchen and assumed the shrieks were the sounds of children playing. But she ran outside anyway and found Marlen sobbing and Alyson's sister Damary,25,kneeing on the grass, dialing 911.
"Alyson fell in the hole!" Damary cried to Luz.Luz gave a quick glance down the hole in disbelief and saw only darkness. Then she heard Alyson's wails(哭泣)from deep underground."Hang on there,sjye.aiety.We'll get you out soon."
Luz ran inside the house and down to the basement for a ladder, which happened to be not very long. She then settled for a gray extension cord(延長線)to use as a rope with which to rappel(用繩索下降)into the hole.Back in the yard, she and Damary used their hands to dig at the hole, widening the opening from 7 inches in diameter to about 20 inches.Marlen sat on the grass, too distracted to help.
At the thought that Alyson might get hurt and was too young to grasp and climb the rope on her own,Luz made up her mind to go down herself. When the police detective Aaron arrived a few minutes later,Luz was already in the hole up to her waist.
"Get out of here," the officer told Luz,lifting her up by the arm."It's dangerous for you."
"It's more dangerous for the Baby," she argued,"She's going to die."
