2.One thing that has always attracted us is the food taboos (禁忌).There is one that seems to be acknowledged in the West:the idea that seedless (無籽) fruits are dangerous.
For those unfamiliar with this belief,it seems to go like this. The basic function of fruit in nature is to spread the seeds of the plant to ensure the survival of the species. When fruits are seedless, however,it is meant to be a sign that they want to give up their basic function.According to more extreme views, these fruits not only have fewer vitamins and minerals, but also arc actually harmful to humans.
In fact, from the view of science, seedless fruits are the result of a biological development. While it is true that this development can be the result of human actions,it also happens in nature all the time.Often,it is a combination of both.
What effect does the absence of seeds have on nutrition (營養(yǎng))?Well, seeds do often contain nutrients like fibre, which can mean seed-containing fruits are a little bit higher in fibre. They can also contain potentially beneficial nutrients. This, however, will make a difference only when you eat up the seeds, bite them with your teeth and break the seeds in a digestible form.
Then there is the question of popularjye.aiy.It doesn't matter how nutrient-packed a crop is if people are unwilling to eat it.While the nutritional difference between seeded and seedless is very small,we know that the sale of seedless fruits has greatly increased since seedless forms were introduced to the market. So when seen in this wider viewpoint, rather than being a loss for nutrition in our diets, seedless fruits have been a gain for us human beings.

A.Seedless fruits are the result of a biological process.

3.A year back I received a full scholarship (獎學(xué)金) to attend the University of San Francisco. All of my hard work paid off.My mom had spent a lot on my attending a private high school,so I made sure to push myself:I volunteered, took part in various clubs, and graduated with honors.I was so excited to start a new part of my life.
Soon enough, the big day came, but it wasn't like what I had thought. The first two weeks were the most difficult days of my entire life.Every night I would cry myself to sleep.I was missing my family,my home and everything in my hometown so much and I didn't know how to deal with my broken heart.
To distract myself,I threw myself into my studies.I also found a ton of jobs.In any free time,I started forcing myself to go to the gym.I wanted to keep every part of my day busy so I wouldn't think about how lonely I felt.Soon after,I began to control my eating, considering it another solution to my homesickness(想家).But soon there was something wrong with me.
Finally,I went to see a doctor. When the doctor told me I had no choice but to take time away from school,I started to fear. How could I stop?School was what I was best at. "I'm not so bad," I thought in my head. But the result was that I was taken to hospital again a month later and my mother came heartbrokenly.I had to take a semester off from school, and go to the treatment center near my home.
If there are girls who are suffering similarly,I hope you know that there is hope and that you should have a positive attitude towards life.Though you may feel alone, there are so many people who can understand your struggle. That's why I want to share my story.

Lately, I was deeply touched with two movies about faithful dogs:A Dog's Purpose and A Dog's Way Home. A dog's life cycled and cycled only to meet his first owner while the other covered 400 miles of toil and hunger all the way back to her home. I had a faithful dog too when I was a little girl, but it was a different story.
When my dad first took him home in a cardboard box,he was so quiet that I even doubted whether there was really a dog in it. When I peeped through two small holes on the side,I just saw a patch of grey fur. My dad assured me that it was just a small dog before I dared to open the box. There he was! What a lovely grey dog! He was slim and looked smart. I was on my knees as I cheerfully observed him. However, he tried to avoid eye contact with me, apparently a little scared with everything strange around. I wanted to pet his head but he only turned his head away.
When he became familiar with me,I called him Billy and he was really delighted, wagging his tail. Every time I left for school,he saw me off. When I came back,he always waited on my way home and greeted me with his licks and brushed his head against my legs. When Billy was in the kitchen with my father, lying on a small heap of firewood beside the furnace(灶),he could always know which piece of firewood my dad would pick up and raised his paw in time. It always surprised me how intelligent and considerate Billy was. I imagined him turning into a small boy carrying my schoolbag for me and talking with my dad. With Billy brightening every day of my childhood, I was more than happy.
Paragraph 1:
But one day, Billy was seriously ill.________.
Paragraph 2:
A few years later, I went to a dog's shelter to try my luck.________.組卷:4引用:4難度:0.5
