    Immersive(沉浸式)Schools in America
In recent years, there have been quite a few Chinese immersive schools in America.
Full Immersion:Pre-k children aged 2 to 4 are fully immersed in Chinese all day-5 days per week.
Part Immersion:Children (in kindergarten through Grade 5 in primary schools, from Grade 6 to Grade 8 in middle schools) learn all subjects in both Chinese and English.
The following chart is provided by Elizabeth Weise from《America Today》.It shows the growth of the immersive schools in America.

Based on The Daily Advertiser's report, foreign children at the age of about 5 are having Chinese lessons like this:
Zhaoting Xia,a 29-year-old teacher, holds paper copies of Chinese currency and invites kids up one at a time to use the"money"to purchase something from her pretend fruit stand.
One of the students,a 5-year-old boy, picks out his money and greets Xia with"ni hao,"starting the conversation as he has been taught. Then he works in some vocabulary words to ask for a plastic ear of corn.Xia tells him the price, and he counts the money in his hand before making the exchange. They finish with"xiexie"or"thank you".
In this one exercise, they've practiced a lot in such a"real situation".And all of this takes place in Chinese.

  • 2.For most of us,there's nothing better than burying our head in a good book.Whether it is a gripping(扣人心弦的)crime story or a biography of someone's amazing life,it is good to read a book to switch off from the distractions(分心的事)of everyday life and help us relax.Maybe that's why some of them are actually being advised as a"medicine or treatment to sickness".
It may seem obvious that reading is good for us.It can be educational, and,as some say,it can broaden the mind.A good novel can make us happy or sad,or make us cry as we empathize with characters. The power of books was recognized a few years ago by the British charity Reading Agency, who published a list of books that doctors could offer to patients, tackling topics from depression to dementia to chronic pain.It called this bibliotherapy(閱讀療法)and it has become so successful that it is about to be extended to children as well.
Professor Philip Davis, author of a book called Reading for Life, studies the effects of literature at Liverpool University. He studies people in reading groups and found that it's reading literature that has the best effect. He told the BBC that when reading something for pleasure,"...the brain begins to work from different parts, from a different hemisphere and it gets excited,it gets pre-emotional—and you can see the brain coming to life."So opening up a paperback(平裝書)could be a simple way to maintain our mental health. It's thought they can help you set targets and find focus. And they may allow you to see that awkward situations you've been anxious about for weeks from someone else's perspective.
If you're not an avid reader(閱讀愛好者)it can be hard to know where to begin. If the Reading Agency book list doesn't appeal(is not attractive),you could read book reviews,or visit a library or bookshop,or ask a friend.Once you've found the right text, you'll be hooked! And if you still love your technology, you could always use an e-reader.

A.Reading helps us become less tense or worried.
    B.Nothing can rescue sickness,but reading.
C.Crime stories drive us to distractions.

    A.Crime stories.
    B.Reading Literature.
