2.On Sundays my father always wore a gray apron (圍裙),After breakfast he always announced, "Go ahead everyone.I'll take care of the dishes!" For the next hour,Dad did the dishes and sang happy songs.
I thought it was strange for a boy's father to wear an apron but I never thought much of it until the day that Dad broke with tradjye.aiion.It was the last Sunday in August. My father seemed especially happy as we walked home from church together.
"Tommy, there comes a time in every boy's life when he must take our responsibilities," my father said to me,
"Responsibilities? " I asked.
Yes.It's time that you should take a greater role in the household.Starting from today,I want you to do the dishes on Sunday morning so your mother and I can work the crossword puzzle together."
"The dishes? "
I stared to say something about a man's job or a woman's job,but I knew that my protests would fall on deaf cars.
I didn't eat breakfast that morning. My father said to my mother,"Let's read the newspapers, honey."
"Aren't you going to do the dishes?"my mother asked in surprise.
"Your oldest son has generously offered to fill the position."
People often say there is a special chemistry between a father and a son.He came back into the kitchen as I was about to lose temper (生氣).In his right hand was the gray apron.
I want you to have this,Tommy. It'll keep your clothes from getting wet." And before I could say a word,he had put the thing on my hand. "Thanks,Son.Your mother and I are thankful for your effort."
With that he disappeared into the Sunday newspapers.I looked down at the dishes.I could see my dad reaching for the dishes.Soon I was singing songs that my dad had sung.I suddenly realized that it was time for me to take the responsibilities as a grown-up in my family.

3.If you had billions of dollars, would you donate*almost all of it to
charity*?Well, that's what Mark Zuckerburg,CEO and founder of Facebook,
just said he would do.
Zuckerburg and his wife Priscilla Chan promised to give 90% of their Facebook shares to society.Right now that is about 45 billion, and they plan to donate the money to things like science and education.
Many billionaires have done similar things.Bill Gates, creator of Microsoft, made The Giving Pledge,an activity in which billionaires promise donate more than half of their wealth to charities. This started in 2010,and now 139 people from 15 countries joined it.
But giving back and helping others isn't just for big billionaires.People like Zuckerberg, and Gates may have more to give, but people with less are doing it,too.
Especially around the holidays, people want to do their part and give back to people who are less lucky than them.Schools may have food collections where people bring a few food items, and together they can make a big donation to places like homeless people's homes.
People also host special events like concerts of runs to be creative while raising money.Regular people donate whatever they can to US charities like the United Way and the American Red Cross.
Then these charities are able to help US communities in different ways like education, health and improving the lives of the poor. These individual*donations come together to make a big difference.

So,You Want to Be a Writer?
What are some tips on becoming a writer?
(1)
Most writers read whatever books they can find because they love to lose themselves in them. They like the sounds of language and the way that reading a good description can feel as satisfying as a baseball game or eating a banana split.
(2)
It's easy to forget a good idea if you do not write it down immediately. If you get in the habit of carrying a notebook with you everywhere you go,you can write down anything you want to remember. When you are talking to friends in café or waiting for the bus, something might spark and idea for a character or scene in a story.
(3)
Nearly all writers agree that writers must write. It doesn't matter if you feel like you have nothing to say;the important thing is that you write every single day.Sometimes, you need to give yourself permission to write things which won't be your best work.
(4)
Do you have any friends who enjoy writing?Think about starting a writing group with other people who have similar interests. It helps to have the support of other writers. You will also receive valuable feedback,or suggestions, about how to make you work better.
(5)
If you decide that you would like to send your work for publication, make sure to do your research. If you are sending your writing to a magazine, look through old ones.Does it seem like your writing fits in with the other stories or articles? That's the homework for you after writing.組卷:11引用:2難度:0.7
