12.Mount Annapurna is 8,091 meters high and is the tenth highest peak(山峰) in the world. The base camp for climbers is more or less halfway up the mountain and it has so me of the most striking scenery in the world.Every year about 70,000 visitors take on the challenge to reach the base camp.A friend and I set off, optimistic(樂觀) that we would manage to get to it without too many problems.
The first thing that struck me on our eight-day journey was how much we went downhill only to have to go uphill again. This was far from my first mountaineering challenge, but I was na?ve to think that this one would be all uphill.
The second problem was altitude sickness (高原反應(yīng)).What I didn't know was that I wouldn't actually be hungry. This was coming from a person who never skipped a meal.Gradually, food became more and more unattractive, and I didn't know why.We were walking for about eight hours a day,and all I was managing to eat was a bowl of soup.In about a week,I lost around 7 kg.
The most serious issue was the ever-present danger. You are a delicate creature in this huge mountain range, especially as you get higher.A few times,we heard the crack of an avalanche (雪崩),but thankfully they were never close enough to cause a danger to our safety. They were often the result of snow accumulating(聚積)above us and then melting(融化) under the midday sun.Obviously, our guides ensured that we set off early in the morning to reduce the risk, and didn't burden us with any scary stories on the way.
I must admit that it was a weight off our shoulders when we succeeded in reaching our destination.Days and even months later,I felt greatly empowered as a result of our achievement. When you're surrounded by views of 8,000- metre peaks, you feel like you are on top of the world.Well, you actually almost are!
(1)What does the underlined word "na?ve" in paragraph 2 probably mean?
A.Inexperienced.

A.She was on a diet.
B.She had a heavy schedule.

D.She suffered from altitude sickness.
(3)How did the author feel upon reaching her destination?
A.Very proud.
B.Very regretful.
C.Extremely tired.
D.Extremely relieved.
(4)What is the text mainly about?
A.Top peaks worth climbing.
B.A mountaineering experience.
C.Hidden dangers of Mount Annapurna.
D.A narrow escape on Mount Annapurna.組卷:6引用:1難度:0.5 -
13.In between all the measures to battle the severe air pollution in Delhi,India, there's one more option-a bar that has "pure air".
Founded by Aryavir Kumar,Oxy Pure,Delhi's first-ever oxygen bar, offers 15 minutes of 80-90 percent pure oxygen, costing Rs 299($4.2).Customers are given a lightweight tube for oxygen intake. The device (裝置) is placed near the customer's nostrils (鼻孔) through which they are advised to breathe in the oxygen.
The bar also offers its customers several aromas (氣味) to go with oxygen, including lemongrass, cherry and more.According to the aroma people choose, each session promises to improve sleep patterns and digestion, cure headaches, and even claims to work as a treatment for depression.
Bonny Irengbam,a senior sales assistant at the bar, said, "Some people, who try it for the first time, will feel relaxed and fresh. But only people who do this regularly will get real benefits.By regularly,I mean once or twice a month. We don't encourageback-to-backsessions,as increased levels of oxygen in the body can make a person dizzy."
Dr.Rajesh Chawla,a senior doctor at the Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, said, "Even if you breathe in the so-called pure oxygen for two hours in a day,you will go back to breathing the polluted air for the rest of the 22 hours. The concept is purely money-driven."
Recalling the first few months of the bar,Irengbam admitted that people were skeptical. "Many people criticized, saying we were selling air.Others were simply scared to breathe through the tube."

14.Dear Charlotte,
For the first time in my life,I'm making a really good income, and so is my husband. We could be saving a lot more, but instead we spend it on fun vacations and nice clothing.I went from a ten-year-old Japanese car to a Tesla, and a thrifi-store (二手店) handbag to a super-nice one from France.I feel like I've become a new person I don't recognize. How can I go back to being someone who's fine with thrifi-store items, instead of this one with a perfect house filled with nice things that don't matter?
I understand why you miss your old life.It feels good to live simply and to work toward larger financial goals. The problem,it seems,is that you never really envisioned(設(shè)想)the life you'd lead once you actually had money to spare.
I doubt you may also be feeling a little bit lonely.Studies have found that transitioning to a higher socioeconomic class can be isolating(讓人感到孤立的)because it moves people away from familiar social circles and into unfamiliar ones. It's also tough to talk about-having big money isn't exactly a "problem",nor a situation that most people can relate to.
I suggest an exercise:Write down everything you spend your money on,every day,for a couple of weeks. Then look at your list and focus on the things that felt worthwhile and satisfyjye.aig.In doing this exercise, you'll probably find that spending money on experiences, especially ones that strengthen your relationships, makes you happier than buying items.
It sounds like you have some guilt. That's normal.I don't mean that you should feel bad about having money.Instead,it's good to be aware that you've been lucky-plenty of people never get to see the fruits of their work in the same way that you have.Amanda Clayman,a financial adviser, recommends gratitude exercises. When you focus more on what you have,it helps you stay focused on what's important to you, instead of what you're missing," she says.
While your new life may seem unrecognizable, that doesn't mean you've lost the goal and drive that got you there—you just need to learn to redirect them.

A.She lost her purse while shopping.
B.She doesn't know how to save money.
C.She doesn't feel great after becoming rich.
D.She has a poor relationship with her husband.
(2)In Charlotte's opinion,what makes the woman lonely?
A.Her small social circles.
B.Her new financial position.
C.Most people's misunderstanding of her.
D.Her family's move to an unfamiliar place.
(3)Why does Charlotte suggest the woman keep a record of her own spending?
A.To let her see what is meaningful to her.
B.To encourage her to be a careful person.
C.To remind her to value her hard-earned money.
D.To make her spend money improving her relationships.
(4)What does Charlotte expect the woman to do?
A.Reflect on her behavior.
B.Appreciate what she has.
C.Work towards a more specific goal.
D.Find out where her guilt came from.組卷:7引用:1難度:0.5
