2.Now in 2019,jazz music is an important part of Indianapolis' art culture.Jazz clubs around the city still host concerts with local jazz musicians like Rob Dixon and Joel Tucker. One of these clubs, the Chatterbox Jazz Club, still has live jazz seven nights a week.
But the real history of jazz in Indy is much less simple.Along with the Avenue's culture, jazz music was gone from the streets for many years.
Indiana Avenue was the heart of a neighbourhood along the White River. It was a centre for black music and live street music. The wealthy avoided this area.So it became a place that poorer families including many African-American and immigrant(移民) families, moved to.
Jazz prospered in the mix of American cultures around the Avenue in the 1930s and 1940s.But in the 1950s,things changed. After the war, there were projects to make the city beautiful and build a university nearby. Both of these seemed like good changes. However, the new university and buildings caused poorer families to have to leave the area. This destroyed the Indiana Avenue community-and with it,its jazz culture.
After many years,Indianapolis remembered the value of its arts and music culture. It began to bring back lost cultures such as live music on the Avenue. To do so,it began to make new changes. The changes included repairing historic areas like the Avenue.Once again, the high living costs in these historic arts areas pushed low-income families out.
Today there are several old-style jazz clubs where friends can meet up to remember the past or just enjoy a summer evening. It might seem at first that jazz is alive again, but there is a sad reality behind these jazz clubs:modern Indy jazz is only a shadow(影子) of the lively culture that was once on Indiana Avenue.

3. The English spoken in Australia,Britain and America has a surprising number of differences. Here are some of the common differences that you will find among these three kinds of English.
Pronunciation among the three types of English can be different. In American English, the "r" at the end of a word almost always affects its pronunciation, while in Australian and British English, the "r" is often silent.Australian English is unique due to the fact that many words have sounds that are gone.Instead of saying "good day",Australian speakers say "g' day".The main pronunciation difference among the three, however,is the pronunciation of the vowel (元音) sounds.

Another common spelling difference between British English and American English is the use of -our or -or at the end of a word. For example,in the UK,colour, flavour, honour are words that all end with -our.In America, they are spelled with the -or endjye.aig.In Australia, the -our spelling is almost universal.
Also, the endings -re and -er are different between different English dialects. In America, you will go to the theater or fitness center, while in Britain you will visit the theatre or fitness centre.Again,Australian English follows the British way.

A.The last sound of a word.
B.The words with sounds that are gone.

4. By drawing patterns on the surface of a cup of tea, chabaixi,an ancient Chinese tea trick displayed in a recent TV drama, has gone viral (走紅) for its apparent similarity with modern latte art (咖啡拉花藝術(shù)).However, ten years ago, this distinctive technique was close to disappearing completely.Zhang Zhifeng,a practitioner of chabaixi, found scenes of chabaixi in the drama aroused great interest among ordinary people.
Chabaixi can create endless patterns such as bamboos and mountains or even calligraphy. There are over a dozen steps, from grinding (碾碎) tea for fine powder,to pouring boiled water, stirring the mixture for thick froth, and finally drawing the patterns. It is different from making latte because people use clear water as the object to put into the cup instead of milk. But when the water touches the surface of whipped (攪打起泡沫的) tea,it turns into a white color and disappears in 20 minutes. The process before the drawing is known as the tea-making technique, diancha. The quality of diancha is crucial to whether patterns can be successfully produced later.
"Chabaixi is one of the countless forms of tea-making techniques in China. The importance of chabaixi is not only that this technique is unique in the world, but also it gives us a window into people's lifestyle in the Song Dynasty,a period of time when leisure activities in some ways like what we have now," Zhang said.
Before chabaixi was discovered by TV audiences, the technique was listed as part of China's Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2017,after it was recovered by Zhang Zhifeng. He started researching the origins of chabaixi in the 1980s and brought the technique back in 2009 after decades of trials and practice.Zhang spent nearly 30 years studying and researching the origins and making of tea,but for him it was all worthwhile.

I looked forward to a visit to my grandma, who lived in a hospital 2000 miles away from my home.Grandma suffered from Alzheimer's (阿爾茲海默癥) since she was 80.I realized how important it was to see her again soon.
When I arrived at the hospital,I found grandma lived in a simple room and spent most of her day doing simple things, which was considered as dementia (癡呆).Seeing my grandma come in,I smiled, hugged and kissed her,and said, "Nice to see you, grandma." She didn't recognize who I was!I was shocked.
Stressed out,I spent several hours trying to connect with my grandma — talking with her, walking around the grounds, looking at family pictures in her room, chatting with the doctors —doing whatever I could think of to help grandma recognize her grandson. But nothing worked.Suddenly I had an idea.I thought of the strawberry milkshake that might stir her memory.
When I was a kid,my family was not rich enough to buy many strawberries.Even so,my grandma would buy some to make the strawberry milkshake, which became my favourite drink.Every time she made it,my family would sit around the table, drinking and chatting. And grandma was always watching me drinking the milkshake. If I drank up mine, she would pour hers into my glass.I believe that was her unforgettable memory.
The next morning,I visited grandma with two glasses of milkshakes.___________
The visit reminded me of the importance of our families._________組卷:0引用:2難度:0.3
