1.I used to walk around the store with my parents and beg them for something.I remember the sight of all the bright bags of chips and candies I asked my mom to buy for me.I cannot remember a time when I didn't beg for something at the store.I had no real knowledge about the value of money.
When I was about twelve years old,my dad always rejected my begging and told me "you can waste all the money you want when you have a job".I listened to him when he said that.Since I wanted so many things and my parents weren't going to buy them for me,I decided I was going to get a job as soon as I was old enough. But before I could legally(合法地)get a job,I babysat to make some money.I remember the feeling of getting new money in my pocket.
A few years later,I went to high school. One spring day,I saw people handing out flyers(傳單)in the school dining hall. One of them gave me a flyer.I put it in my schoolbag and when I got home,I looked. It said at the top:"Looking for a summer job?Be a lifeguard!" I started to think about the money I could make,so I applied.Soon I got an email, inside which I was invited to a meeting the following night.I went to the meeting and learned all about the training.
After being trained for several months,I finally started the job and made some money. The more money I made, the less I wanted to spend.Instead of wasting my money on useless things,I started saving up.I finally came to the realization that money meant so much more to me because I was the one working for it.Because I value my money,I now have 3,300 dollars in the bank.

2.The smilodon(劍齒虎)died out probably about ten thousand years ago.Although it is also known as the saber-toothed tiger,it is not a close relative of the modern tiger.
The more scientists study the two big cats, the more differences they find.
Tigers are not sociable animals. They generally travel by jye.aimselves.The smilodon,on the other hand, probably lived in groups.Tigers run fast while hunting their prey(獵物).But the smilodon, with much shorter tails than today's tigers, did not have 'he balance to run at top speeds. It probably caught its prey by hiding quietly until an animal came near.
Another main difference between today's tiger and the smilodon is the size of teeth. The smilodon is known as a saber-toothed cat because of two huge teeth that grew from the top of its jaw(頜).These teeth grew up to nearly 18 cm long and were easily broken and damaged. The smilodon probably used the teeth to bite(咬)into soft parts of its prey's body, such as its stomach.A modern tiger's teeth are much smaller, but
