By the end of 2020,China hopes to move all of its people out of poverty(貧困).To achieve this
goal, one important task is to bring better education to students in poor areas. To finish this task, the government has made great efforts.Schools have been built, more college graduates(畢業(yè)生)have been sent there to teach, and more money has been used to help students from poor families.Let's take a look at how students across the country benefited from this.
        Bringing better teaching resources
"Do you like playing football?" asked British teacher Matthew. "I prefer to play basketball",answered one boy. This is a special English class in Huichang Gaopai Middle School in Jiangxi.Through an online video chat,Matthew from London is teaching students from a poverty-stricken(貧困的) county(縣) in China.
These "dual-teacher classes"(雙師課堂) were set up by China Daily to bring better English education resources to the countryside.
"The foreign teachers are very humorous and the classes are full of laughter,"said Wang Qi,a Junior 2 student at the school. "I have become more interested in English.I have also begun to see it as a communication tool(工具)instead of just a subject on an exam."
        Financial aid
He Jiao is a student from a small county Guizhou. In 2015,when she was admitted(招收)to Tsinghua University, her family worried about the money. Her father, the only breadwinner in the family, earned no more than 1,000 yuan a month.
Thanks to a project started by the local government,He Jiao received a scholarship(獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金)of 100,000 yuan.It allowed her to attend her dream university. "我將努力學(xué)習(xí),服務(wù)大眾,"she said before leaving her hometown for college.
