1.Running seems easy enough:Just grab a pair of sneakers and put one foot in front of the other, right?Well, anyone who struggled to get through a mile knows it's not quite that simple. We've asked experienced runners to tell us something wrong they did when they just started running. The following are some of their answers.
I got excited and signed up for a half-marathon with a few more-experienced runner friends, but I wasn't adequately prepared and didn't train efficiently.I ended up with blisters (水泡) on my feet.I couldn't wear shoes for two days!
-Cali LaveyI've always been athletic and I've never been badly injured, but one day I felt a slight pain in my knee.I ignored it for a month until I realized I was having a hard time putting weight on my right leg.I finally went to a doctor. It took four months of weekly physical therapy (治療) to heal.I shouldn't have done that.
-ArnoldMy biggest mistake was treating running like soccer practice:If I wasn't exhausted by the end of practice,I felt as though I didn't work hard enough.I run all of my runs at 80 percent effort,or the equivalent of what I now call tempo runs (節(jié)奏跑).I wasn't warming up to the pace or cooling down effectively.
-KateI decided to go out for a run during the hottest part of the day.At the time,I told myself that it would be refreshing to sweat a little, but I didn't bring adequate water.I returned feeling completely rundown, dehydrated (脫水的),and exhausted. If you must go out on a run during unfavorable weather, wear proper suits and bring enough water to keep you feeling strong.
-Sarah

2.Anger is a natural human emotion which makes us human. All of us have lost it occasionally and some of us seem to lose our temper often.Controlling anger is not so much of an issue as managing it is.We copy behavior from an early age and anger is an emotion that all of us have seen, expressed and felt.It is important that we do not bottle up our anger and express it in a healthy way.
Self-help psychologists have taught us again to respond to an unfavorable situation and not react to it.Responding instead-of reacting, that's what they all say. It's easier said than done.By responding to a situation rather than giving it an immediate reaction,we are able to deal with it better.Anger creates violence if controlled by heaven and it is important not to ignore anger. When we face an unfavorable situation or when someone hurts us,we tend to get angry.Instead of giving back as much as we get,we should just ignore the person so we let them know that they don't affect us.
We must be patient when it comes to dealing with anger. When we are calm,we can manage a situation better and respond to it better.Being peaceful within is important and we need to appreciate the positive things in our life and not concentrate on the negative aspects of our lives so much.To accept things as they are should be primary in our minds when it comes to managing our anger.Acceptance of the situation thoroughly gives us a whole new view on things.
Anger destroys relationships. When we get angry,we choose to conveniently put the blame on the other person.Love cannot survive in an environment of anger and negativity.Spouses may love each other but if they are constantly fighting, the times when they will be happy together will be few and far between, which may finally lead to their divorce.Anger creates conflict and conflict can not only destroy people's relationship and families but also health.

3.For decades, the UN's Food and Agricultural Organization has collected reports about how much fish people have pulled out of the oceans. But according to new research, those numbers are wrong.Every year more fish was caught than previously believed.Years later,a terrible situation occurs.Recently, the catch has dropped very quickly-a troubling sign of the decline of fish populations.
The FAO numbers don't take into account small-scale fishing, recreational fishing or illegal fishing.A study, published in Nature Communications, aims to fill in those gaps.Adding in these previously uncounted fish increases the total world catch from 1950 to 2010 by just over one half."The world is withdrawing from a bank account of fish without knowing what has been withdrawn or the remaining balance.Better estimates for the amount we're taking out can help ensure there is enough fish to sustain us in the future,"study author Daniel Pauly of the University of British Columbia.
Based on official counts, global catch peaked in 1996 at 86 million metric tons and declined modestly at a rate of about 0.38 million metric tons each year. But after examining fisheries in more than 200 countries, the new study puts the 1996 peak at 130 million metric tons and a much steeper decline of 1.2 million metric tons per year since. The greatest declines came in the industrial fishing sector.
Together, the findings show that humans'fishing practices have been even more unsustainable than previously thought,Harvey writes.Pauly and his co-author,Dirk Zeller, urge the FAO to change their accounting practices to get a more accurate measure of the health of the world's fisheries.
"It is a positive thing that we know the fact that we catch far more than we thought,"Pauly tells Damian Carrington at The Guardian."That is because we can rebuild more than we thought before,if we rebuild stocks."The findings also emphasize the value of fisheries to low-income people in developing countries,Carrington writes. The next steps will require some clear-headed action to preserve that critical resource for people and for the planet.
(1)That the catch has declined greatly shows that
A.sea fish is not popular any more
B.the governments have taken proper actions
C.many fish species have already died out
D.the total amount of fish has been reducing
(2)What can we learn about the FAO?
A.It made a technical mistake purposely.
B.Its statistics data is not all-around.
C.It finds it hard to count the fish.
D.It was too positive about the fish population.
(3)What can be inferred from Pauly's words in the last paragraph?
A.The findings are meaningful to fish industry in the future.
B.Humans should not catch fish any more.
C.Catching fish is beneficial to low-income people in developing countries.
D.It is very easy to increase the population of fish.組卷:25引用:1難度:0.7
